actually, this kind of helps. i know her about as well as you do. you’d practically have to start murdering puppies to lose her love. it is your jade right? the one from this universe. because there are others, and things can get messy when you mess with that.

God, the things you should have told her. That you were a parallel John, that the stories in your life were about the trolls she never met, and how lucky they all were that they even won the game. This wasn’t even your first time stepping in for local you, either, as this place felt more like home than any other universe.

what are you more worried about? if she’ll still love you after you tell her how you feel? or if she’ll feel the same?

The less you talk about that, the more you feel your cover is safe.

You sigh just a little bit from the exhaustion that came from trying to think about all of these universes and separate them in your mind.  You knew where your Jade was from, but the topic alone felt uncomfortable to you, like you’d rather just break that connection off and live with what you have.  John would understand.

Yeah, this universe’s own iteration.  Who else would I be talking about?  I only have a few contacts outside of our own, you know.

You think about the potential outcomes and frown.  The ones John was bringing up could potentially be messy.

Hmm…I don’t know.  It all depends on how she means the words she’d be using.  I’d try to frame it in an unambiguous context, though.
