==> Go for a walk and smell the oncoming spring season

colorful-just1c3:

Hehehe, that’s the spirit, kid!

…Rose, do you know that you can make anything sound depressing? You talk like you’re assigning homework! I mean, it’s fine to be smart, but sometimes I get lost in the words and I can’t find your point! And it’s never any good worrying about something you can’t do anything about! It gives you stress, and nightmares! Nightmares are scary!

Hehehehe, I don’t know, he’s just around! Maybe you talked to him at some point, you know?

Well, when I taste things, I can see the colors! A “Magic Anon” Did it for me! I like eating strawberries a lot more now, because I can see the color red!

Oh, I have braille books! I use them to keep up with my Criminal Justice classes! And I like reading normal books to, so braille helps a lot! But I like hearing people read to me more than I like reading braille! You know who’s a good story teller? Karkat! Hehehe, he puts the funniest shit into the story, it’s great!

Oh, I moved out a long time ago! That’s why I came here, I had moved out of my house and down to college! I guess I just haven’t kept up with all the people I should? Hehehe, what about you? Where’s your mom and dad?

Well, you’d have to move on, right? Even if it’s really hard, things get better! It will always get better, which is why you have to keep smiling!

You grin widely, to emphasize this point.

Well, maybe you couldn’t do all that work with chemicals and things like that, but you could teach, right? You could verbally teach things! Maybe you could make breakthroughs in blindness all on your own! What better suited person than someone who understands the condition? I think you can do it if you try really hard, Rose! I’m still trying to be an attorney, I think you could be a doctor if you tried! Don’t give up, hehehe~

You had always aspired to be an attorney, it had never changed with you, even after you went blind. Granted, it was harder to get into school and get your highschool degree, more-so get into a college and be able to study there with high grades. But you somehow made it happen, and you thought that Rose limited herself too much. You think that, if she really tried, she could do anything she wanted to. You didn’t like it when people limited themselves to conditions, when the mentality was all that mattered, in your opinion.

Oh! I like Polish food! My mother was Polish, hehehe, so she made stuff like that a lot! I like spicy things to! Like red hots, pepper-steak, basically anything with spices! Bonus points if it’s red! Hehehe~

Come now, Terezi.  I’m passionate about language; surely you wouldn’t begrudge me the opportunity to enjoy one of my favorite things?  I was merely answering your question, and if it came across as a little more florid than I’d intended, I apologize, but I’d hope that you would understand when I wish to express myself.  After all, isn’t that what you’re doing with your own interests?

It’s conceivable.  I have some dim recollection of meeting someone like that in my past, but it could just be déjà vu, I suppose.  There’s no one I can really think of whom I’ve met recently who fits that personality type.

Synesthesia, then?  Somehow, knowing your personality, that doesn’t surprise me.  I’m glad that you enjoy it, and I’m sure it does a great deal to brighten your world.

Again, it simply has to do with dependence.  I like the fact that I don’t need to ask anyone to read to me when the books are in Braille, or when I have a device to play audiobooks.  I’d rather do things on my own than ask for help.  I don’t want to miss out on the most important element of my life when I was still sighted.

If that’s worked for you.  Are you a senior in college, then, as your age would suggest?  I can imagine, if that’s the case, that it’s been quite a while since you’ve been in contact with them.  I think they’d appreciate hearing from you.

As for myself, I grew up with just a mother, although recently I’ve had something of a father figure in my life.  I’m not sure how else I’d really classify Dirk, as “older brother” in the manner that Dave suggests doesn’t really strike me as a valid classification.

I guess one would have to, though it seems to me that it would be an awfully lonely existence going through life without hearing at all, let alone without sight and hearing.

You give some serious thought to what she suggests.

Well, no matter what, I’m going to have to be working with chemicals.  Next year I’m going to be taking chemistry, and I’ve read about some advances in its teaching that may be able to help me, so I’m hoping my school will be able to purchase some of those tools, so I won’t be limited in that capacity.

I’m still a little anxious about what medical school will bring, though.  I’ve heard it’s quite difficult on its own.  Still, that won’t stop me from doing whatever I can to convince them that I can, even if it means looking at other possibilities for career choices within the field of medicine.

You wanted Terezi to know you were devoted, but sometimes it felt insuperable, like all of your efforts would be for nothing because there was no way that you’d be able to discern some of the necessary diagnoses, no way you could read an X-ray without the prohibitive cost of some technologies, which you weren’t sure if anyone would pay just for the burden of teaching you medicine.  You had to fight against yourself to tell yourself that you were competent, that it was your mind that really mattered, that no matter what shape your body was in, you could persevere, and that was what kept you going for now.

Well, I have no complaints.  You name the place, and I’m happy to join you for dinner anytime.
