After situating yourself, you look to find Rose’s arm had already slipped around yours before you had said anything. A smile forms on your face and you lead the two of you to the rental facility where you drop off your gear. You turn to look at Rose and ask, Do you want to call Bro to come get us?

Oh…yes, absolutely.  Remembering to do it so early will make it much more convenient.

You drop your ski gear when you get to the rental place, using one of the poles as a makeshift orientation device once again, which helps you get inside, after which someone helps you by getting your bag.  Now in possession of your real cane, you take a seat, satisfied, and get to work on struggling with your ski boots.
