When your boots are off, you put your shoes on, and stand up, leaning forward onto your cane, and extending a hand to hold Jade’s.

You take her hand, Um, I don’t know. Why don’t we check your phone and see if he sent you any messages.

With your free hand, you turn on your phone, then dictate a message to Dirk.  He replies relatively promptly, indicating that he’s on his way there and is driving.  Satisfied, you put the phone back away and just use the moment to enjoy Jade’s presence.
