It’s still amazing that you’ve managed to prove to people that you can live without your sight. Proving them wrong and continuing to go for what you want.

So uh, I guess what I’m trying to say, avoiding tiptoeing around the issue like some prissy girl, is that you’re pretty strong, Rose. For being about to defy what people think and moving back everything that’s happened…

-You aren’t sure exactly where to look, so you let your gaze flicker up to the tv. Some random soap opera is on, of course. Good thing the volume is so low that you can’t even hear it.-

….Right. I forgot that you’ve probably gotten annoyed with the computer’s voice. Alright, you got yourself a deal. Just gotta figure out which book you’d like me to read, and once I’m out of here I’ll read it for you.

It’s not all that spectacular, really.  Blindness isn’t all that uncommon, so plenty of others have done just that.  The only remarkable aspect is that it happened early, and due to retinal scarring.  Either way, when faced with the choice of life blind or death sighted, I think the choice was relatively clear for me.  Like I said, I didn’t really have any other choice but to cope.

You think about Karkat’s friend, Terezi, for the moment.  You wonder how things were for her.

How does Terezi feel about it?  She never seems bothered at all by it.

Well, thank you very much.  I’ll use the intervening time to think of a potential candidate for the reading list.
